STEM Engineering and Stress Analysis



The purpose of the STEM Engineering and Stress course is to introduce the students to the principles of static loads and stress analysis involved in the design of structures, such as buildings and bridges, playing the role of civil engineers. Using a stress analyzer, tools, and accessories, they are challenged with the design and construction of the prototype of a new bridge. They must investigate the considerations engineers take into account before designing structures and apply these considerations and additional information to design and build different structures intended to bear loads, such as vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Our integrated approach to STEM emphasizes innovation, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and creativity using hands-on training systems that allow students to apply math/science fundamentals to complete projects using the engineering design process. Students learn concepts related to STEM disciplines in a “learning by doing” environment.
