The Mechanical Interlock consists of a metal arm hinged at the center to a metal bracket. When mounted between two contactors, the ends of the arm engage each armature. When one contactor closes, its armature rises, pulling the arm up with it and causing the other end of the arm to move down and interfere with the closing of the other contactor.
