The Cam Switch (Drum Type) is a manually operated heavy duty rotary switch that may be used for direct motor control. It has five independent double-break sets of contacts operated by cams attached to the switch shaft. The switching sequence is the action of sets of contacts being operated in a specific order with regard to other sets of contacts in the same switch. Since the cams are preset, a table of contact operation must be provided. The chart shows the state of each set of contacts for each of the switch index positions for this particular switch.
